Prior to taking on the job, we will need to conduct a site visit to assess how easy it would be to remove your existing worktop and advise you accordingly.
Types of Worktops
We have listed the various ranges of replacement worktops available, their key features and the most popular brands below:
Laminate worktops
The most popular choice in the UK. Made of high density chipboard and coated with plastic laminate, laminate worktops are available in a variety of colours and designs.
Timber / Wood worktops
Solid wood worktops available in most woods such as maple, oak and beech as well as Wenge. They have a unique character and improve with age with the proper maintenance.
- Strata
Ultra Compact
This is a new class of solid material created by mixing, compacting and fusing elements of glass, porcelain and quartz under extreme pressure and temperature. As an added benefit it contains anti-microbial elements that actively fight bacteria! Extremely resilient, durable and versatile and comes in a wide range of colours.
- Dekton
Solid Surface
Solid surface material is produced by mixing plastic resin and bauxite pigments. Once created, it is bonded to a timber substructure to create a solid surface worktop.
- Corian
- Hi-Macs
Quartz
Quartz is a man-made stone, and is approximately 4 times as dense as natural stone. One of the best things about quartz is that it’s scratch-proof and can easily withstand chipping, which makes it low-maintenance. Additionally it comes in a wide range of colours and textures. They’re non-porous and therefore, highly resistant to stains.
- Caesarstone
- Silestone
Granite
Granite is a natural stone so there are only a number of shades and patterns you can chose from. However they are very stylish, durable and functional. They can’t be repaired if damaged, and they are porous so will require sealing every 2 years.
